Description
Ungulocoriitis (inflammation of the claw corium) was proposed as a name more accurate than pododermatitis. Sole lesions at the tip of the claw were encountered in 122 cattle between 1984 and 1988. Infection spread rapidly to the bone (distal phalanx). At an early stage, the condition was treated by wound care and relief of weight bearing. The tip of the claw had to be resected when osteolysis was present, but postoperative healing took > 2 months. Despite this, the overall results were better than those obtained by claw amputation
