The relationship between hoof measurements and limb disorders and the lifetime production of dairy cows is discussed on the basis of international research. The heritabilities of hoof measurements are between 0.20 and 0.50, and it is suggested that selection of bulls for hoof measurements and gait would result in a decrease in the culling rate of their daughters
