20 dairy cows with interdigital necrobacillosis (Bacteroides melanocitogenesis and Fusobacterium necrophorum isolated from the lesions) were treated for 3 days with i.m. injections of ceftiofur (Excenel, 1 mg/kg). 19 animals showed complete recovery. Nine milk samples were taken from each cow up to 6 h after the last treatment. No antibiotic residues were detected apart from 1 cow that had received oxytetracycline during the trial
