Description
The case is reported of a zebu cow in Uganda which became lame in its left front leg. Examination of a piece of skin removed from around a small lesion in the most painful area on the leg revealed the hypostome of a tick, and after removal of the skin, the cow rapidly recovered. One of the authors reports having seen an embedded tick hypostome associated with lameness quite commonly in sheep in Nigeria
